The Best TV Around
I'm not ashamed to say I love Tosh.O. I know I'm not the only one. Right about now, there are probably a GAZILLION articles and reviews on Tosh.O, but I don't really care. I absolutely feel compelled to add my few cents to the fan crazed blogs that might be percolating right about now in cyberspace.
Tosh.O premiered this past Tuesday on Comedy Central, at 10p.m. Last season was good, but wasn't great. It ended with a cliffhanger, Daniel was looking for his replacement. He claimed he was tired of making fun of stupid people (really Daniel?). The auditions were cute, with ordinary and somewhat socially awkward people, trying their best to be snarly while viewing asinine videos of the most outrageous the Web has to offer. Daniel was sweet, but honest about who will replace him; he needed somebody with pizazz, somebody with a strong stomach, and somebody who was willing to be as much a jerk as he clearly enjoys to be.
Okay, cut to Tuesday night's premiere. Daniel didn't leave us hanging too much. I wondered about his seriousness when he promised the audience the new host was going to be awesome. First off, he had to show the usual plethora of videos, featuring people who won't take "Caution: You will die if you perform this stunt" as an answer. Reasonable is not in the vocabulary of the masses apparently. One such video had a couple making weird, whale like sounds, calling it the sounds of love. Tosh was like, "okay" and of course he made the usual off color, ethnic jokes (sometimes they work, sometimes you cringe and wonder...).
The most awesome moment was fast approaching. But first, Daniel had to do his customary web redemption for a lady who hosts videos on how to date European Men. His on-target sarcasm and veiled mockery disguised as 'caring', was appropriate; the woman looked and sounded a little off...(insert choice words at your convenience).
The moment of truth came with the unveiling of new music slightly more urban, a parade of purple color fusion, and then the new host was finally revealed...CHRIS ROCK!!!! At first, my husband and I were like..."no...it can't be, it's an impersonator", but there was Chris Rock (hair slightly grown out), announcing his new position with a new segment, which featured the most grotesque moment of the season (I don't think even Daniel can top this...if you want to see the clip, and vomit up huge chunks of your dinner, don't worry, they'll be repeating this episode many times over for the next few days).
Even Chris Rock had to leave, he was sickened by the video (all in jest of course), but the truely funny moment arrived when Daniel Tosh returned and the audience began booing and hissing, shouting "Bring back Rock!". Of course, Tosh tried to play it off, but he got miffed, and almost began to cry (again...all in jest people, I doubt Daniel ever really cries).
Okay, my fanaticism over Tosh's new season is done. The new episodes air on Tuesday's, check for your local listings, but definitely give this show a try if you haven't yet. I guarantee you'll either love Tosh.O like I do, or you'll be sending me not so nice comments about how truly clueless I am over good television. Happy viewing!
